The official white DualShock 3 controller is a hotseller at Play-Asia and now Hori, a respected publisher of gaming accessories, has released a white PlayStation 3 Turbo controller. This 3rd party PS3 controller has a few extra buttons to adjust the speed and turbo of the controller. So far there aren’t any product reviews of this Hori Pad 3 Turbo for PS3 yet, but Hori is a first class peripheral publisher so we have faith in them! At Kotaku they’ve just received their PS3 Dual Shock 3 controller from Japan and they really love it. They say the rumble is fine, the colour of the controller is good and the weight is just perfect.

This technology is about ten years old and it’s still unclear why Sony isn’t using the latest technology.

Motorstorm is one of the many PlayStation 3 titles that supports the rumble feature of the PS3’s Dual Shock 3 controller. When you play Motorstorm with the rumble on it gives a much better gameplay experience and it will give you a true next-gen feeling!

According to Ryan Payton, who’s working on Metal Gear Solid 4 for PlayStation 3, Sony is using technology in its DualShock 3 PS3 controller that’s more than ten years old. This old rumble technology uses two motors to create the complex set of sensations whereas the technology from Immersion’s new TouchSense uses a single motor. The latest Immersion vibration technology requires less energy, but instead Sony is using the old technology for unknown reasons. Sony says they have a standard royalty rate and they don’t want to make the DualShock 3 controller more expensive.

Today Sony officially announced the PS3 Dual Shock 3 controller with rumble as we all expected. During a Tokyo Game Show keynote Kaz Hirai from Sony Computer Entertainment Japan announced the good news. This new SIXAXIS controller for the PlayStation 3 looks just like any other PS3 controller, but the hot stuff is inside this redesigned controller. The Dual Shock 3 controller has vibration to make the PS3 gaming experience even more realistic.

Dual Shock 3 will come out in Japan this November, and in spring 2008 Sony will release its new controller with rumble in North America and Europe. Many publishers have their Dual Shock 3 rumble controllers for quite some time now and there’s a nice list of games that will use the rumble function of the new Dual Shock 3.

According to 1UP Sony Computer Entertainment Japan will announce the PlayStation 3 SIXAXIS controller with rumble at the Tokyo Game Show.
